Non-desk workers represent 80% of the world’s workforce. They accomplish heavy missions while operating in stressful and harsh environments. And they are most affected by workplace accidents.

Non-desk workers are in many ways the industrial equivalent to athletes - they need physical endurance, stamina and resilience to get the job done. Unfortunately, due to the nature of their work, they may also suffer from physical over-exhaustion. Our solution promises to detect early signs of such dangerous levels of exhaustion - allowing for minimal interruption of activity with maximal worker flexibility.

faq

  • Heat exhaustion, sometimes also called over-exhaustion, is a bodily condition that can occur after you've been exposed to an environment where your body can’t keep itself cool enough.

It can be caused by intense physical activity or other harsh environmental factors that are a burden for our bodies, such as e.g., hot weather, hot ovens, confined spaces, or full body protective equipment.

Once overexhaustion occurs, adverse health events happen such as

    • Weakness or fatigue

    • Dizziness or fainting

    • Nausea or vomiting

    • Heavy muscle cramps

    • Heat stroke

  • The epyMetrics solution is physically deployed in the form of epyShield™ wearables for each worker, no bigger than a credit card, as well as a multi-bay charging dock, no bigger than a small suitcase.

The charging dock is normally located in a control room or site hut so that workers can easily access the station to grab their epyShield™ before the shift starts or to let it charge after a shift.

All the necessary machine-learning computation is done on the epyShield™ as well as on the cloud backend. Data can be visualised through a dedicated epyGuard™ app as well as the web app frontend.

  • Up to 50 hours of data can be stored on the Shield™ wearable itself.

The data is transmitted via low-power bluetooth (BLE) to a phone or tablet that act as gateway and for a live-view of the data.

  • Health data is the most sensitive data there is and we honor that with an inherently safe epyGuard™:

    • Only the person who generates the health data sees his/her data in detail. By invitation only, an occupational physician can access his/her data for health check-ups, too.

    • Supervisors and safety experts only see aggregated data (live in form of green/orange/red status indications, historically only team-level data).

Further, our clients are free to use non-personal identifiers for usernames instead of the workers' actual names.

  • Absolutely. However, we currently focus solely on working with best-in-class sensors who have been especially developed to guard workers and their environment.
